SIMBANG GABI is a cherished and deeply significant tradition among Filipino Catholics that beautifully prepares us for the joyous feast of Christmas. This devotion highlights our profound love and respect for the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of God. For nine consecutive days, we come together in worship and reflection, a period that symbolizes the nine months during which Mary lovingly carried Jesus in her womb. Each evening, we gather in our local parishes to attend Masses celebrated in her honor, filled with faith and anticipation.
The spirituality of Simbang Gabi, often referred to as Advent evening masses, invites us to cultivate the spirit of Advent as a collective journey, emphasizing both individual and communal preparation. This time is not solely about personal reflection but about uniting as a vibrant community—a true family of God dedicated to worship and prayer. As we invite our families and friends to join us in the Eucharist, we strengthen our bonds within the community. Together, we share in the joy of waiting and growing spiritually, drawing strength from God's Spirit as we prepare our hearts and minds for the miraculous birth of Jesus.
